DAFFODIL DAY

The daffodil was chosen as the symbol of hope for all affected by cancer because of its reputation as a hardy annual flower, pushing its way through the frozen earth after a long winter to herald the return of spring, new life, vitality and growth. As one of the first flowers of spring, the daffodil symbolises rebirth and new beginnings. The daffodil represents hope for a cancer-free future.

I am going to tell you why I like my Chromebook.

I like my Chromebook because.

It helps me do my work better and I can research things I need to learn you travel around the world with google maps.

I will be the boss of my chromebook so people have to ask me if their aloud a turn on my chromebook. I can have a laptop to myself. People won’t bother you because you won’t be do anything wrong you’ll just be sitting somewhere playing on your chromebook.

Its helped my learning by.

If I get stuck on words I can use the dictionary and it will help me alot on my learning so I don’t have to go around asking people. I’ll be able to type faster than writing in a book.

Yesterday we learnt about two things
Healthy Earth
Healthy You

Healthy Earth was about our rubbish is making its way to the sea and killing animals like Turtles, seals, birds and whales.

There are 100 Grams in one chocolate biscuit.
There are 1 Gram of sugar in 1 pack of small chips.

So That means the total of sugar is 101 Grams of sugar.

1 We were learning about Nelson Mandela and how badly the black Africans were treated .

2 I thought I made my writing link well.

3 Next time I would improve on my spelling.

Nelson mandela was a Civil Rights Leader who lived in South Africa. He fought to be treated equally. Nelson was put in prison for having black skin.

Nelson Mandela was born in Mvezo,South Africa on the 18th of July 1918 his dad was a chief. Nelson was a member of the Thimbu Royalty.Nelson got his name Nelson from his teacher because she could not say his real name.  Nelson Mandela was an ANC leader he wanted non-violent approach. The white afrikaans thought he was a terrorist so Nelson Mandela got put into prison for 27 years.
When he came out of prison he was treated like a king and became the first black president.
I admire Nelson Mandela because of he never got angry at people after he came out of prison for 27 years because he wanted people to be treated equally.

Purpose: Describe a moment in time for the soldiers.
WALT : Describe what and how the ANZAC soldiers would have:
1- Seen, 2- Felt, 3-Heard, 4- Smelt onboard the ship as they waved
goodbye to their loved ones on their way to WAR!

As I sat on the edge of the large, hard steel ship with my legs dangling limply over board I could see……. My lovely children waving and my stunning wife sobbing.

I felt frustrated. I didn't want to go to war. I didn’t want to be separated from my family.

I could hear soldiers beside me sobbing. I could hear wives screaming.

I was thinking that this might be my last time seeing my loving family and my homeland, New Zealand.

"Come parachuting with me" my brother asked. "OK Ill come" I said scared. We got ready and walked  over to the parachuting place. There was a huge black and green helicopter sitting there on a helipad. This is when things got real.

I started to freak. What happens if I pull the wrong string.I'd die. Nine is to young to die.

They strapped me to my brothers chest then I herd the helicopters engines start. I got nervous. We went very very high. I was looking down I said to my brother "that is a very long drop" "it is" my brother replied.

We got ready to jump he asked me if I was ready.I was! We leaped from the helicopter. In a blink of an eye we were falling like rain drops.  It was a long time, it felt like forever.

My brother pulled the rope. I heard a loud noise at the back of us, it was our parachute. It was rainbow coloured. Now we were just relaxing up in over head view.

I felt scared while we were gliding from the sky it was scary and fun at the same time. I was proud of myself for doing it! I'm nine and I've jumped out of a plane!

My Speech

Purpose: To convince my audience
Topic: Why we need two day weekends

You are bonkers if you think coming to school every Saturday is all right for kids! I've got more important stuff instead of work for Six days. Kia ora my name is Jaecib and I'm here to convince you why we need two day weekends to remain.

Firstly, I miss my family all the nice food they cook for dinner and lunch.I have to give up six hours from my beautiful family and that's not OK, not an option for me . That's why two day weekends should remain.

Secondly, if I come on Saturdays I wont be able to think and I can’t focus on my learning that will be a complete waste of time . That's I believe that two weekends should remain.

Thirdly, I play sport on Saturday . I am the hook for Kaikohe rugby club. I will be letting down our team and we don't let team members down, so if I come to school every Saturday I'll be missing out on on being in a team because I need to learn how it feels to be in a team. That’s why I think that two day weekends should remain.

In conclusion I've given you three great reasons why two day weekends should remain...
1- I need quality family time!
2- I won't be able to focus
3-I need to play sport and I'm part of a team!
That's why I 100% believe two day weekend should stay. I'm Jaecib Kire and thanks for listening to my speech.
